Requirements for a New Passport:

If all articles are not provided at initial submission it will be considered incomplete and will NOT be processed until all articles are received.

WHO SHOULD APPLY FOR A NEW PASSPORT?
Afghans citizens obtaining passports for traveling or identification purposes.

1) New passport application form

2) Two passport-sized photos

3) First-Time Applicants need to apply at the Consulate General office

4) Provide these documents:

  • A copy of Green Card (Front and Back) or if you are a US Citizen, a copy of your US Passport
  • A copy of Driver's License or Identification Card. (Front and Back)
  • Original Afghan Passport

NOTE: If Afghan Passport is not available, provide affidavits of two Afghans whom hold Afghan Passports to bear witnesses of your naturalization status. Also obtain a copy of their AFGHAN Passport page 2 and 3 and 8 and 9. (THESE APPLICANTS MUST APPLY IN PERSON AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL OFFICE IN LOS ANGELES)

5) Passport application fee:
  • $104 for 5 years

(All fees must be paid with MONEY ORDER)

NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED

Payable to the Order of: Consulate General of Afghanistan

NOTE: Applicants whom have an old Afghan Passport and wants to obtain a new Afghan Passport, have to send their old original Afghan Passport with all above requirements and send by mail, include a prepaid, self-addressed return envelope. You may use Certified, Registered U.S. mail, Federal Express or UPS shipping envelopes.
